Molded as a memorial to the tragedy at Pearl Harbor, the U.S.S. Arizona plastic model features meticulous detail and the full arsenal of the original Navy battleship. While the Arizona was hit by a torpedo, large bomb, and armor-piercing bomb, modelers can now assemble the Arizona plastic model kit to show off this once great ship. An extensive arsenal is well distributed around the ship with twelve 14 inch cannons situated in four rotating turrets and two sizes of anti-aircraft guns positioned in two levels around the deck. From the meticulously engraved steel plates and wood planks to the three anchors and four propellers, every piece of this model ship kit has been molded for the highest degree of accuracy. Deck fittings include a number of whale boats, ladders, searchlights, tripod masts with observation nests, and two airplane catapults with biplanes ready to be launched.
Assembly instructions are broken into ten fairly complex steps, but all parts are accurately labeled and written instructions accompany each stage of the construction process. The first page of the instruction manual provides a map of Pearl Harbor that indicates the locations of the major Navy ships on Dec. 7, 1941, and a small full-color sheet features a number of signal flags.Despite the huge arsenal and recent upgrades to the Arizona, the Japanese surprise attack took the lives of nearly 1200 American seamen. Once the Arizona plastic model is complete, it can sit gracefully on the included stand as a tribute to the many lives lost trying to defend the United States of America.
